Westbourne Community Trust

Westbourne Community Trust is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers that can look after buildings and community facilities for the benefit of local people. It has been set up and is run by ordinary residents, and its main focus is to build and manage new homes for local people to rent. The Trust also hopes to work on other projects to benefit the local community.

Affordable homes for Westbourne

Westbourne Parish Council is working closely with the Trust who is delivering 12 much needed affordable homes for the Parish, which will be built on land to the rear of 32 to 56 Mill Road in Westbourne. The need for more affordable homes in the village was first identified by the Parish Council when a housing need survey was carried out for its Neighbourhood Plan.

Work is now underway and is estimated to be completed by October 2025, if all work proceeds smoothly. The Trust is delighted to have reached this point after six years since the idea of forming Westbourne Community Trust was first discussed by a group of local residents. Playground improvements

The Trust's housing project at Mill Road includes the transformation of the recreation ground area and will see a large-scale investment into new playground facilities for the benefit of local children and families. To allow construction work to start, the existing playground equipment has been removed but the games court and the grassed area of the recreation ground will remain open to allow residents to use these facilities until the end of December 2024. In early 2025, the whole playground will be closed so that building works can continue.

Temporary access road

A temporary access road has been created in the field to the north of the allotments, leading from Foxbury Lane, to prevent construction vehicles from using Mill Road and causing disruption to residents. All construction related vehicles and staff parking will be accommodated on this field, and vehicles will only enter and leave the site from the north to avoid extra traffic coming through the village.

Mill Road off-street parking

Early in the programme of works, alterations will be made to Mill Road to provide additional off street parking spaces for the benefit of local residents. Further information about when this will take place will be published soon.
