Taxi-bus service
Published: 21 January 2019
Westbourne Parish Council has approved a three-month trial of a Taxi-Bus service, running between The Square in Westbourne (close to Libby’s cafe) to The Square in Emsworth at 9am on Tuesdays and some Saturdays. There will be a return pick up at 12:30pm from the drop-off point in Emsworth back to The Square.
The Parish Council is funding the Taxi-Bus service in response to the withdrawal of the number 28 bus which previously connected Westbourne to Havant. The Taxi-Bus service will enable residents to access the 700 bus from Emsworth, which runs between Havant and Chichester, as well as other important services and facilities.
The Taxi-Bus will run on Tuesdays and some Saturdays. Concessionary travel and bus pass holders are free. All others will be charged £1 each way. Please check the timetable before making arrangements, and please do not miss the return journey as the Taxi-Bus will leave on time.
The service will be run by Mr C Maple – a registered taxi driver - in an 8-seater vehicle (black with white stripe). If a second trip is required due to more than eight people, the driver will return and facilitate the second journey.
Following the three-month trial, the Parish Council will consider the success of the Taxi-Bus with a view to funding a permanent service.
The timetable is available in the noticeboards in The Square in Westbourne or at www.westbourne-pc.gov.uk
