Precept 2022/23

Published: 14 January 2022

The Parish Council has agreed at its meeting on 13 January 2022 to set a Precept for 2022/23 of £115,437. The Precept is funding collected on the Parish Council's behalf by Chichester District Council through Council Tax to support its activities during the financial year.

The Precept in 2021/22 was £103,869.

The increase of 9.7% for a Band D property, which is £10.73 in cash terms, will help the Parish Council deliver essential maintenance projects in the Parish over the next year.

Cllr Richard Hitchcock, Chair of the Parish Council, said: "We are responsible for the closed churchyard at St John's Church in Westbourne and repairs to the wall are required following damage caused by the roots of the ancient yew trees. As this is specialist work, it will cost us in the region of £15,000 to carry out the repairs. We need to resolve urgent drainage issues at the playground on Monk's Hill which has become waterlogged during the winter months. There are also increased costs at Westbourne Cemetery and across our contracts and essential services, such as grounds maintenance and street light electricity".
