Jubilee Beacon

Published: 01 May 2022

Join us at the Common at Monk's Hill on Thursday 2 June from 9pm

We will be lighting a Jubilee Beacon to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The event will celebrate a unique milestone in our history - Her Majesty The Queen's 70th year as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth. It's a feat no previous monarch has achieved. Westbourne's beacon will be one of many that is lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries.

Cllr Nigel Ricketts said: "We will be lighting the beacon as it gets dark and we hope that you can join us earlier in the evening - with a picnic or refreshments - to enjoy what will hopefully be a lovely evening at the Common."

A piper will play just beforehand to announce the lighting of the beacon and it will be lit by Westbourne's Scouts. Please also bring light sticks or candles to make the most of this special occasion.

We look forward to seeing you there!
