Committees suspended
Published: 02 January 2025
The Parish Council agreed at its meeting on 12 December 2024 to suspend all of its committees until further notice due to them not being quorate. The Council urges new members to join the Parish Council in order that it can fulfill its civic duty to represent the Parish of Westbourne.
The Council's Standing Orders, which set the procedures for meetings, state that there should be at least three members for meetings to be held. As there are four parish councillor vacancies, and members sending their apologies for health reasons, there have not been enough members for committee meetings to go ahead.
All matters will be referred to the Full Council for discussion until such a time when there are enough members for committee meetings to resume. The committees that have been suspended are the:
- HR Committee
- Planning Committee
- Public Services and Natural Environment Committee
- Recreation, Leisure and Amenities Committee
- Strategy and Finance Committee.
The Council agreed that the Westbourne Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group could continue to be held due to their being enough members on the group.
