Published: 21 January 2025
Westbourne Parish Council agreed at its meeting on 9 January 2025 to set a Precept of £141,473 for financial year 2025/26 to deliver council services for the Parish. This represents an increase of 1.6% for an average Council Tax Band D property on the Precept from last financial year. (In 2024/25, the Precept was £133,247).
The Council agreed that it was important to set a budget that was below inflation while continuing to provide essential services for the Parish
The Precept is money raised through Council Tax charged by Chichester District Council. The Parish Council will use the funding to continue to maintain:
- two recreation grounds and play areas
- Westbourne Cemetery and the closed churchyard at St John the Baptist Church
- street furniture, such as benches, bollards, flower troughs, cycle stands and road signage
- two speed indicator devices and a Community Speedwatch Group
- two defibrillators
- tree surveys
- 30 street lights
- community events, such as the Spring Clean Day, Annual Parish Assembly and national commemorations
- newsletter to residents
- administration and membership of professional bodies.
- grants and donations to local groups and organisations.
In addition to the above, the Council has agreed to support Westbourne Community Hall with a grant towards the renovation of its kitchen and The Meeting Place with a grant towards improvements to the rear meeting room. The full budget, and other financial documents, are
