Uncontested election

Published: 04 April 2019

Chichester District Council has informed Westbourne Parish Council of the people who are validly nominated to stand for election following the receipt of nominations, which closed on Wednesday 3 April at 4pm.

As the number of candidates is lower than the number of vacancies to be filled (nine in total), the nominated people will therefore be declared to be elected as unopposed. Consequently, it is not necessary to hold an election for the Parish of Westbourne. Although there are insufficient candidates for an election, a quorum has been achieved.

The Parish Council is now required to co-opt qualified people to fill the remaining seats. People interested in becoming a parish councillor to fill the remaining two vacancies are invited to apply and attend the Parish Council's meeting on Thursday 16 May at 7.15pm at The Meeting Place, North Street, Westbourne.

Make a change

The Parish Council has ambitious plans to create a thriving local community where residents and businesses can prosper alike. Plans are underway through the creation of a business plan but the Council needs more people from a variety of backgrounds, skills and experiences to make these plans a reality.

If you would like to do more for Westbourne and have some time to spare, please do consider becoming a parish councillor. It is a rewarding experience which will involve you to work with a team of dedicated volunteers on a range of projects and initiatives.
