New Parish Council

Published: 16 May 2019

The local elections in May 2019 saw a new Parish Council elected in Westbourne. Although uncontested, as not enough candidates stood in order for an election to take place, there have been changes giving the Parish Council a renewed focus for the next four years term of office.

Two new councillors have joined - Ann Pearcey and Lade Barker. Both are residents in the Parish and bring their enjoyment of living in Westbourne and passion for the local area to the role, as well as their professional expertise and skills. Ann is a retired dentist and lives in Woodmancote, and Lade is a solicitor who owns a farm in Westbourne. Both have joined a number of the Council's committees and have already proved to be invaluable in the support they have given.

The Parish Council would like to thank Val Owen and Chris Eaton who stood down in May. Val served as a parish councillor for over 20 years and contributed enormously to Westbourne. The Parish Council wishes them both all the very best for the future.

Join the Parish Council

Two vacancies still remain and if you have some time to spare, please consider becoming a parish councillor. It is a rewarding experience which will involve you to work with a variety of people and organisations to represent the voice of the local community and make improvements to the Parish. The Council has ambitious plans to create a thriving local community where residents and businesses can prosper alike, but more people are needed to help make these plans a reality.

New District Councillor

The Parish Council would like to congratulate Roy Briscoe who was elected as Chichester District Councillor for the Westbourne Ward in May 2019. Cllr Briscoe has been appointed as the District Council's Cabinet Member for Community Services and Culture, and remains as a parish councillor for Westbourne.
