Emsworth Common Road closure

Advance warning: The closure of Emsworth Common Road, from Monday 23 September 2019 for approximately six weeks, will see a diversion through the village of Westbourne.

West Sussex County Council has informed the Parish Council that car parking restrictions will now not be in place along East Street and The Grove and that the traffic will be monitored instead. However, parking restrictions may be implemented if unacceptable levels of congestion through the village occurs. 

Hampshire County Council will be closing Emsworth Common Road between Horndean Road and Woodberry Lane to carry out essential drainage works. Please see map of the section of road that will be closed and a letter outlining the work. West Sussex County Council has authorised a diversion route through Westbourne during this period.

This may cause some disruption during and the Parish Council is informing as many residents, businesses and organisations as possible. It is concerned about the impact on the village and is in contact with West Sussex County Council to see if an alternative route is available.
