New grit bins

Published: 05 February 2020

The Parish Council has installed two grit bins on Monk's Hill for local residents to use in case of icy weather. One is located in the car park near the recreation ground and the other on the verge at the entrance to Ellesmere Orchard.

Although the weather in recent years has been mild, the possibility of a cold snap is always on the cards during winter. As Monk's Hill has a slight gradient, the Parish Council wanted to ensure that residents in this location had access to useful grit supplies if needed. There is a lot of water run-off on Monk's Hill from the fields, particularly near the new development, and this could become a hazard in cold weather.

The bins will be refilled every autumn and again during the winter if supplies run low.
