Tree champions

Published: 22 March 2021

TreesWe are looking for local residents to become tree champions to help look after the trees in the Parish.

As a tree champion, you would play an active role in conserving trees and woods in Westbourne, as well as planting new trees and helping the saplings to flourish.

In recent years, tree champions have planted new trees at the recreation ground on Monk's Hill and along the grass verges of Church, Homefield and Edgell Roads in Westbourne. We are looking for more places that we can plant new trees to help tackle climate change and provide a habitat for wildlife.

Being a good tree champion is more to do with attitude rather than knowledge, as training would be available as well as learning from others. It would involve you to work closely with the Parish, District and County councils, Greening Westbourne and local residents to plan and care for the trees. We hope to produce a booklet of all the trees of special interest in the Parish, similar to the one that was created for Emsworth, and support in producing this is required.
