Affordable housing project

Underway at Mill Road
Westbourne Community Trust has started work to build 12 new affordable homes on land near Mill Road. Before the completion and occupation of the new houses, they will also carry out work to improve the park and provide new play equipment.
Temporary access road
A temporary access road has been created in the field to the north of the allotments leading from Foxbury Lane to prevent construction vehicles from using Mill Road and to avoid disruption to local residents. All construction related vehicles and staff parking will be accommodated on this field, and vehicles will only enter and leave the site from the north to avoid extra traffic coming through the village.
Playground improvements
The games court and the grassed area of the recreation ground will remain open until the end of the year so residents can continue to enjoy these facilities, and a temporary access gate has been made. The play equipment and skate park have been removed to allow the project to commence. The Trust is continuing to prepare the final details of these improvements, which are expected to start early in 2025 and will see a large investment in the facilities that are available for local children and families. The public car park is still open for the recreation ground and allotments.
Mill Road off street parking
Early in the programme of work, alterations will be made in Mill Road to provide additional off street parking spaces for the benefit of local residents. Further information about when this will take place will be published soon.
The Trust is delighted to have reached this point after six years since the idea of forming Westbourne Community Trust was first discussed by a group of local residents. The construction work is now underway and is estimated to be completed by October 2025 if all work proceeds smoothly. The Trust has appointed its principal contractor Ascia Construction Ltd to carry out the work. Ascia has a strong track record of delivering housing and other public sector construction contracts. The Trust has also appointed Welling, a specialist property and construction consultant, as its agent.
